Why Do People Choose Coaching?

Picture
People choose coaching for so many varied and unique reasons.

They may be experiencing stress or burnout or struggling with worried thoughts and overwhelming emotions.

Some people are looking for guidance in exploring the direction they want to take next in their lives.  Or they want to develop new lifestyle habits and a more balanced approach.

Many times, they are feeling a pull to understand themselves and others more deeply.  And sometimes, people have challenging life situations that could benefit from structured problem-solving or a little extra support.

The list could go on and on. The reasons are limitless, but ultimately, people choose to participate in coaching to be proactive in making their mental health and emotional well-being a priority.

Navigating some significant challenges in my life took me to a deep place where I could learn more about myself, life, and the people and world around me.

I'm so grateful that, through coaching, I get to share what I've learned with others, while helping them to make sense of their own life experience.

Like so many others, I know what it's like to feel anxious, and hopeless, lost and defeated.  And I also know what it's like to feel energized, hopeful, and inspired!

I've come to know on a deep level that the latter is our true nature.  But it it is often covered up by our limiting beliefs, faulty thinking patterns, unconscious emotional reactions, habits, and more.
I've spent the past 18 years working with people, helping them to grow in self-awareness, uncover their full potential, and create lives that are full, engaged, and meaningful.

It is always so rewarding to watch clients reach powerful new insights around what they are capable of!

More on Why People Choose Coaching...

At times there can still be stigma about participating in things that are so good for us - like therapy or coaching.

There is that little part of us that says we "should" be able to do it on our own.  Social media has made this all too common.  Everyone else just seems so perfect!  We tell ourselves that we need to be too.

But, here's the thing -  it's pretty difficult for us to grow and learn and change all on our own.
Sometimes we all need some structure, guidance, and support to figure things out.  Especially when it relates to such deeply ingrained things, like our core beliefs, ways of thinking, emotional reactions, unhelpful behaviors, and habits.

So much of what has the potential to bring about happiness and life satisfaction is below the surface and can be challenging to access and work through.

You don't have to be struggling to participate in coaching.

It is a proactive, collaborative approach that allows you to go deeper and reach higher than you may be able to navigate on your own.

Choose coaching if you could benefit from having someone who:

  • listens deeply when you’re sharing your thoughts and feelings, giving you their full and undivided attention
  • provides unbiased feedback and an impartial perspective, while helping to identify possible blind spots regarding challenges you’re facing
  • shares new ideas + practices, helping you integrate them into your life
  • provides guidance, support, and encouragement in a space of non-judgment and acceptance
With coaching, people are looking to build and improve their emotional self-awareness, mindfulness,  interpersonal relationships, and self-management, just to name a few.

What Makes Core-level Coaching Unique?
Typically, time in-session is spent explaining new concepts and strategies, leaving less time to discuss how to relate and apply them to your specific life situation.
1:1 coaching sessions include a comprehensive guided online component. Between sessions, you will gain access to online modules containing written resources, videos, guided exercises, worksheets, and more.
Best results for coaching typically come from investing time between sessions. The online modules allow you to process new information, make connections, and start applying and practicing things before coming to session.

Time in-session is then spent more experientially, allowing you to gain insight and deepen understanding, learn new skills, and practice applying new approaches.

Feedback from Coaching Clients
My biggest take-away so far is that my mind has a mind of its own! I'm starting to understand why I have the patterns I do in my life. It's feeling good to practice things that actually make me feel peaceful. (T.O., 52)
I've been to therapy, which helped at the time. But this feels different, like I've made changes that will allow me to handle challenging experiences now and in the future. Instead of feeling "helped" I felt mentored and guided in helping myself. (Charlotte N., 33)
Having the online modules has been so helpful! I feel like I'm learning so much that I can apply directly to what's going on with me. Being able to come to session knowing I can talk it all through makes it a seamless process. I really feel like emotionally, I'm the best I've ever been! (Peter V, 26)
I have learned so much about myself throughout this experience. I didn't realize how critical I was being about myself. The self-compassion exercises and understanding more about my self-talk has helped me understand how my behaviors and beliefs have been holding me back. This has really changed so much for me - thank you! (Sara, 46)
