Gaining Control Over Habits
Coaching can set you on a path towards taking control of the habitual patterns in your life that are holding you back or causing you harm.
Do you recognize any of these patterns:
scrolling/spending time on the Internet, shopping, over-eating, smoking, drinking alcohol, binge-watching, arguing, worrying, shutting down? Those are just a few of the many patterns we fall into. Whether you realize it or not, our objective is always the same:
Feel Better Immediately |
Habitual patterns aren't just what you DO; they are also how you think and feel about things, which also happen on autopilot.
Your habitual patterns are a way of avoiding discomfort.
Do you have a tendency to judge yourself for falling into habitual ways of being that you know, deep down, are negative, harmful, or unhelpful? Many of our habits formed because initially they helped us to avoid discomfort. In some way, they made us feel better, if only momentarily.
Typically, we have a natural inclination to avoid distressing emotions. That's where habits come in. The urge to do a habit happens so quickly that we mistakenly believe that it is beyond our control. But, it's not. Once you learn to navigate your emotional experience with more ease and equilibrium, you will start to see your habitual patterns from a whole new perspective - one in which you have more control and a deeper understanding. |
Through Coaching, you will be guided + supported in:Deepening your understanding around what is driving your habitual patternsMindfully working with what you are feeling, building emotional self-awarenessMaking positive changes to your self-talk and core beliefsWorking to change patterns of reactivity (i.e., defensiveness, withdrawing, feeling victimized, etc.)Developing a deeper sense of calm + connection |
