Practicing Healthy Self-care

Man on a bike
Struggling with lifestyle habits and self-care?  People are starting to realize more and more how much of an impact their habits and lifestyle choices have on their overall health and well-being on all levels: emotional, spiritual, relational, mental, and physical.

We're starting to take a closer look at the choices we are making in life and seeing that there is so much that we have control over that will help us thrive.

Our busy schedules often mean we don't make our health and well-being a priority until something happens to cause a physical, mental, or emotional set-back of some kind.

However, we could really benefit from making our lifestyle habits and practice of self-care a top priority in order to bring our very best selves into every situation, interaction, and experience we encounter.

We have so much more control over how we feel than we've grown to believe we have!

There is sometimes a stigma attached to self-care, with some people labeling it as selfish or self-indulgent.  This is the farthest thing from the truth!

It is an essential aspect of creating our best life so that we can be even more supportive and compassionate with others.

Self-care simply means taking action on an ongoing basis to support your well-being.

It means having the self-awareness to know what your body, mind, and spirit need in order to reach your full potential.
Some of the downfalls of neglecting our self-care and well-being include:
- Physical symptoms that can range from aches and pains, trouble sleeping and weight gain to serious diseases, like cancer and diabetes
- Emotional symptoms, including detachment, sadness, anger, and resentment
- Psychological symptoms that include depression and anxiety
Unmanaged stress can be at the root of so many of these experiences, as we ignore the signs that something is not quite right.  Our bodies and brains are constantly sending messages, but we are often too distracted and disconnected to see or understand them.

A few helpful self-care practices we can benefit from doing regularly include:
  • Tapping into the quiet that lies beneath our racing thoughts through meditation
  • Developing mindfulness exercises to tap into your senses, instead of being stuck on auto-pilot
  • Connecting with nurturing and supportive people
  • Eating well, getting enough quality sleep, and exercising
Could you benefit from taking a look at your current self-care practices, or lack thereof?  Is it time to make your physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being a priority?
Through coaching, you can work toward achieving your goals and objectives around lifestyle habits and healthy self-care.

6-Session Coaching Program

Who Are You? And Who Do You Want to Be?
After 17 years interacting with a wide range of clients in the fields of mental health, personal development, and coaching, I continue to be amazed by the core and common element that connects us all.

Whether a client initially seeks coaching to work on their relationships or their career, their habits or their emotional wellbeing, it always boils down to their relationship with themselves.

When we've been able to switch gears and focus on building self-awareness and increasing personal insight, that's when real change happens in the other areas of their lives.

Working solely on "issues", without diving deeper to understand what's driving your behaviors and dictating your perspective means you are likely to continue struggling.

This experiential Coaching Program blends psychology, brain-science, and elements of spirituality.

You'll be guided in uncovering the innate potential within you to open up and experience life fully!

Navigating some significant challenges in my life took me to a deep place where I could learn more about myself, life, and the people and world around me.

I'm so grateful that, through coaching, I get to share what I've learned with others, while helping them to make sense of their own life experience.

Like so many others, I know what it's like to feel anxious, and hopeless, lost and defeated.  And I also know what it's like to feel energized, hopeful, and inspired!

I've come to know on a deep level that the latter is our true nature.  But it is often covered up by our limiting beliefs, faulty thinking patterns, unconscious emotional reactions, habits, and more
.
I've spent the past 17 years working with people, helping them to grow in self-awareness, uncover their full potential, and create lives that are full, engaged, and meaningful.

It is always so rewarding to watch clients reach powerful new insights around what they are capable of!

Feedback from Coaching Clients
My biggest take-away so far is that my mind has a mind of its own! I'm starting to understand why I have the patterns I do in my life. It's feeling good to practice things that actually make me feel peaceful. (T.O., 52)
I've been to therapy, which helped at the time. But this feels different, like I've made changes that will allow me to handle challenging experiences now and in the future. Instead of feeling "helped" I felt mentored and guided in helping myself. (Charlotte N., 33)
Having the online modules has been so helpful! I feel like I'm learning so much that I can apply directly to what's going on with me. Being able to come to session knowing I can talk it all through makes it a seamless process. I really feel like emotionally, I'm the best I've ever been! (Peter V, 26)
I have learned so much about myself throughout this experience. I didn't realize how critical I was being about myself. The self-compassion exercises and understanding more about my self-talk has helped me understand how my behaviors and beliefs have been holding me back. This has really changed so much for me - thank you! (Sara, 46)
